Oil --  Martin's brief (hang on to your seats !)


When the oil runs out about 2050 we are in for a societal revolution--whether we like it or not--and most of us probably won't--of mind-boggling scale.

Imagine a world without oil. OK, so you can! Or can you?

It's not only cars that go (largely), but lorries, trains, bikes. But get this--the way we presently do farming,

IT TAKES 10 CALORIES OF ENERGY FRORM OIL TO PRODUCE ONE CALORIE OF ENERGY OF FOOD.

Please read that again.

OK, so our food production collapses. Does this not lead to a break down of law and order? Probably. So we better have draconian laws in place restricting people's freedom. Let's use anti-terrorism legislation, surely a vote-winner?

Or we could do something constructive about it NOW ! Time is getting short. Why drive our juggernaut over the cliff of sustainability? Put the brakes on now. Limit our worst practices and let's use the remaining oil for the good of the planet and for the production of sustainable sources of energy--for when it goes.

From now on there is an ongoing oil crisis. The war on Iraq was about oil, specifically America assuming the right to itself of grabbing major global resources for its own good.

Bush ahs a ranch in Texas kitted out with wind turbines, solar panels, its own water supply. These guys know what is on the way for their families and their futures.

Vote this year--for your family and their future. Let me represent you.

Meanwhile, rumour has it they may attack Iran in June.
